Forza Horizon 6 has taken us to some incredible roads, but if you are looking for the absolute crown jewel of the Japanese car list, the 1998 Nissan R390 (GT1) is it. This mid-engine legend was built strictly to meet homologation requirements for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, meaning only one street-legal version was ever created in the real world.

In Forza Horizon 6, you cannot buy this masterpiece from the standard Autoshow. The best and only way to add it to your garage is by hunting it down as a Barn Find.

Because of how the campaign works in this installment, you cannot just drive straight to the woods and crack the doors open on day one. Here is the exact, step-by-step method to trigger the rumor and claim the car.

Step 1: Hit Level 6 (Adventurer Stamp)

Barn Finds are tied directly to your progression through the "Discover Japan" campaign. The Nissan R390 is locked behind the Purple Stamp tier, which requires you to reach Level 6 (Adventurer). If you go to the location before this, the barn will just sit there completely empty.

If you want to speed up your progression and unlock the rumor quickly, focus on stacking up points with these activities:

  • Completing the main Story missions (the yellow markers on your map).

  • Tearing up the local touge and road races.

  • Smashing regional mascots hidden around the map.

  • Grinding through the food delivery ranks.

  • Purchasing player houses to boost your overall status.

As soon as you cross into the Adventurer tier, your map will update with a purple rumor circle over the southwest region.

Step 2: Head to the Ohtani Hideout

Once the rumor is live, grab an off-road vehicle or a solid rally build and make your way to the Ohtani region, nestled in the southwest corner of the map.

To pinpoint the exact location without driving in circles for an hour, use this route:

  1. Fast travel or drive over to the Bridge Underpasses Trailblazer gate.

  2. Position your car near the starting line. Instead of running the gate, look just to the left of it to spot an unmapped dirt path cutting back into the wilderness.

  3. Follow this winding trail off-road as it climbs up into the hills and dense forest.

  4. Keep your eyes peeled for an entrance marked by two white signs along the track. The trail will guide you straight to a secluded hill where the barn is tucked away.

Get close enough, and the game will transition into the classic cutscene showing your driver pulling the tarp off the dusty Nissan supercar.

Step 3: Let the Restoration Do Its Thing

Once the cutscene wraps up, the R390 will be sent away to your garage mechanics for a full restoration.

Because this is an ultra-high-tier GT1 race car, the game will ask for an astronomical amount of credits if you try to fast-track the build process. Do not pay it. Forcing the restoration early is a massive waste of hard-earned bank.

Instead, just let it restore naturally. Go back to your usual routine—hit up some street races, clear out some drift zones, or keep exploring the map. After a relatively short amount of active playtime, you will get an in-game phone call letting you know the car is officially ready. You can then pull it out of your Barn Finds menu completely for free, ready to be tuned, painted, and unleashed on the asphalt.
