Forbidden Rites can become a time sink in PoE 2 when campaign encounters, named Rare targets, and a Level 90 goal are treated as one continuous checklist. They demand different kinds of progress, so check the event panel for its closing date and current reward threshold rather than relying on an old schedule that may not match the event available to you. If a gear gap is slowing advancement, keep Path of Exile 2 Currency decisions tied to a specific upgrade; spending without a clear defensive or damage need can distract from challenge progress. This keeps planning grounded in the objectives shown in game.

Set a reward threshold before farming

The eight-challenge ladder offers several useful stopping points. Two challenges grant Locust Footprints, four unlock the Locust Swarm Rare Finisher Effect, six reward the Wildwood Guardian Pet, and all eight grant the Wildwood Affliction Level-up Effect. The Forbidden Rites Totem hideout decoration also gains pieces as challenges are completed, so each objective contributes to a separate record of progress.

Before choosing what to do next, compare the unfinished rewards with the time and effort required by the remaining objectives. A clear target helps prevent aimless farming after you have earned the reward you wanted.

Stop at two challenges if Locust Footprints are your main goal.
Continue to four for the Rare Finisher Effect, then reassess your remaining objectives.
Use six as a stopping point if the Guardian Pet matters more to you than the final effect.

The Totem provides another reason to finish challenges, but it should not automatically outweigh the rewards you value most. If the last objective demands a lengthy detour, weigh that effort against completing the decoration and earning the eight-challenge reward.

Pair campaign progress with target checks

Ritual encounters can appear during the campaign, making them convenient to complete while you are already advancing through the story. Finishing a relevant objective along the way can save backtracking later. Still, do not let an awkward encounter stall your character if your defenses or damage are not ready for it.

Use a quick review after each encounter to make sure the activity actually moved a challenge forward. This simple check is especially useful when several objectives are active at once.

Complete a relevant Ritual encounter when it fits your current campaign route.
Check the challenge panel afterward instead of assuming the objective received credit.
Keep progressing through suitable content if an encounter is slowing your character down.

Named Rare monster objectives call for a different check: the specific target matters. An ordinary Rare enemy may not satisfy a challenge that names a particular monster, so read the exact wording and keep track of which targets you have completed. Repeating random areas without confirming the requirement can cost time without improving your challenge count.

Keep the Level 90 goal on its own track

Reaching Level 90 is a longer-term goal, not a reliable side effect of chasing every event objective. Choose content that provides steady experience and that your character can handle consistently. A difficult activity may look efficient, but repeated deaths can interrupt progress and make it a poor choice for leveling. When you are close to the level milestone, favor reliable advancement over detours that depend on a specific encounter or target.

After each session, decide whether your next step serves a reward threshold, a named-target objective, or Level 90. If a gear upgrade is the obstacle, identify what your build needs before you buy cheap Path of Exile 2 Currency; otherwise, prioritize the challenge or leveling route you can complete consistently.
